Youth Orchestra, CYCNY, a Queens-based youth
orchestra will present its 11th Annual Concert at Lincoln Center on
Saturday, May 25, 8 PM at Alice Tully Hall.
Maestro Chijen Christopher
Chung will lead more than 70 young musicians to perform works of Classical,
Popular, Broadway and Asian Music.
The highlights of this concert will be:
The US premiere of renowned Taiwanese
composer- Ma Shui-Long’s “Searching” Guzheng Concerto for Guzheng and
Orchestra, Will feature the most prominent Guzheng
artist of Taiwan, Ms. Huang Hao-Yun, to be the
soloist for this fascinatingly unique
and innovative piece of music.
Also featuring the orchestra’s faculty Chi-Ching Grace Lin, she would be the soloist performing, the
amazing work by American young composer, Andrew Beall’s
“Dance of Identity” from “Affirmation”
for Solo Percussion and Orchestra.
There
will be the World Premiere of American composer, James Margoshes’s
“Symphonic Dance” from “Fame” - the Musical.

The Youth
Orchestra is a Queens-based Youth Orchestra since 1996. The orchestra holds its
open audition in the fall for new members; it meets for rehearsal on each
Saturday from 1-4 PM, at MS 158 in Bayside,
Chiwei Chang /woodwind; Lovell Chang/brass; Chi-Ching
Grace Lin/percussion.
The orchestra presents two
formal concerts annually. One free
Holiday Concert for the community during holiday season in Queens; and one
Annual Concert at
Our mission is to provide the
multicultural and orchestral experiences to talented and serious young music
students age 10-18, with our unique repertories of Classical, Popular, Jazz,
Film, Broadway and Asian Music. We commission and promote works by American and
Asian composers.

A native of
Upon moving to the United States, Mr. Chung studied under the tutelage of
master cellist Peter Wiley (of the famed Guarneri String Quartet), at the prestigious
Conservatory of Music at Purchase College, SUNY, where he received both his
Bachelors and Masters Degree in Cello Performance.
In addition to his academic credentials, Mr. Chung’s wide professional
experience encompasses symphony orchestra and chamber music performances,
conducting, teaching, studio recording and administration. He has served as
Associate Principal Cellist of the Taipei Symphony Orchestra, Principal Cellist
of the Yin-Qi Symphony Orchestra and Chorus and
Principal Cellist of the Yin-Qi Chamber Orchestra in
Mr. Chung’s teaching positions include the

Orchestra, CYCNY, Mr. Chung is proud to have performed with the orchestra as
soloist in Elgar’s Cello Concerto, at Alice Tully Hall in
Mr. Chung has long believed that music has the power to transform lives, to
transcend cultures and languages and to bring people together in important and
lasting ways. It is for this reason that he dedicates his life toward inspiring
a new generation of young musicians to pursue their dreams through the
challenging and life-changing process of music education.

Huang Hao-Yin was born and raised in

World-wide Chinese Cultural & Artistic Heritage Awards, honors from
Research Grant from the National Science Council of the Executive Yuan and many
other prizes and honors. She has held 22 solo music concerts so far, which
include the solo performances at Taipei National Concert Hall in April 1991,
March 1992 and October 2003, and the solo performances at Chih-Teh
Hall of Kaohsiung Culture Center in November 1987, April 1991 and September
2003, as well as a number of solo performances at the Taichung Chung-Hsing Hall and other local culture centers in Taiwan. Huang
was invited to give dozens of lecture recitals in the local universities.
