New York, NY –2009 - The North American Alumni of
Taipei National University of the Arts will present their debut recital at Weill
Recital Hall at Carnegie
Hall, Piano & Percussion: An Evening of Chamber Music Friday, May 1st,
2009 at 8:00pm.
The program includes from some of the most
celebrated repertoires: Lutosławski,
Rachmaninoff, Shostakovich, and the Bartók Sonata for
two pianos and percussion.
The evening will also feature the U.S. premier of
two Taiwanese composers, Mao-Shuen Chen’s
Ballade for two pianos "A Montage of Taiwanese Phenomena,” and Sung-jen Hsu’s Allegretto,
variations on a folk song "Pounding Rain.” The artists are also proud to premiere a
new original composition, Pounding of
Life, by the acclaimed Taiwanese female composer Hsin-Lei
Chen.
The musicians are all graduates of this prestigious
institute in Taiwan.
Most have continued their musical studies and careers with the most acclaimed
music programs in the world, including: The Juilliard School, Manhattan School
of Music, City University of New York as well as Royal Academy of Music, St.
Petersburg Conservatory, and Birmingham Conservatoire.
